Penzance announced today that Ballston Gateway, the eight-story Class A office building located at 3865 Wilson Blvd., in Arlington, was awarded The Office Building of the Year (“TOBY”) for the 100,000-249,999 square-foot building category at the 26^th Annual TOBY Awards Celebration in Washington, DC last Friday. The TOBY Award is considered one of the most prestigious commendations of its kind, recognizing high-quality building management and operations.

 “I am extremely proud of our team for their hard work and dedication to showcasing Penzance’s excellence in building management and operations through the TOBY competition,” commented Penzance’s Portfolio Property Manager, Ginnette Brock. “We are thrilled to have our first TOBY win and look forward to entering the competition in future years,” she said.

During the presentation of the award, the TOBY judges emphasized the impressiveness of Penzance’s Engineering Development Program (“EDP”) and Property Manager Development Program (“PMDP”), training and mentoring programs that are designed to cultivate in apprentice-level employees a commitment to best practices in the field of building operations. Penzance was also commended for Ballston Gateway’s “green garage” and other sustainability efforts and practices.

Ballston Gateway, owned by Penzance as joint venture partners with American Realty Advisers (ARA) and managed by Penzance, was developed from the ground up in 2002, delivering in 2003. The 146,329 square-foot office property is conveniently located on the corner of Wilson Boulevard and Pollard Street, is Metro accessible, and features a large outdoor plaza with stunning landscaping, benches and picnic tables. Windows on all sides of the building allow for beautiful views of Washington, DC on one side and Tyson’s Corner on the other. The building is currently 100% leased and occupied with a tenant mix professional office tenants and retail tenants.
